Strategic Perturb and Observe Algorithm for Partial Shading Conditions

Solar photovoltaic (PV) is the cheapest renewable resource of electrical energy. Its dependence on connected load bounds its production capability. To deliver determined power, it required to operate at maximum power point (MPP) in characteristic curve PV array. Tracking MPP requires electronic circuits govern by tracking (MPPT) algorithms. The most simple, cheap, and softly implementable MPPT algorithm “Perturb Observe (P&O)”. It efficiently performs under uniform weather conditions (UWC) but fails partial shading (PSC) due formation multiple peaks P-V a cell. In this paper, weaknesses P&O are studied overcome structural modifications. proposed structure named “strategic algorithm”. Performance conventional algorithms evaluated following standard benchmarks, speed, time, efficiency, ability track GMPP PSC. Results have shown that SP&O has outperformed numerous conditions. Simulations performed MATLAB/Simulink.
